On this trip we are focussing on sharks, not only while diving but also onboard! We will organize workshops on sharks where you are welcome to join us and of course this is not mandatory. In these workshops we will teach you about the biology of sharks, feeding behaviour, mating and reproduction, how to ID the individual species, the history of sharks starting with the megladon and finally how we humans have decimated these stunning animals and what we can do to help them recover.
This trip is scheduled for: May 8 till May 15 2023 from Port Ghalib (near Marsa Alam).

DAEDALUS, SAINT JOHNS
What a special treat that is as you dive the blue waters of the 1 kilometer long Daedalus in the search of the schooling salloped hammerhead shark. This species is quite shy but if you find what you seek you are in a real treat! A school of hammers emerging from the deep blue waters, swirling around you. If luck is with you there schools can run up to 25-30 individuals, al though 10 are more common.
The number one site of Saint Johns is called Umm Khararim or Saint Johns Caves and is the home of an open cavern system, with ambient light coming from the cracks just under the surface, where you can spend an entire dive in if you would like. Another famous reef is Umm Aruk, where a forrest of pinnacles stands next to the main reef. These pillars rise up from a depth of 25 meters and are fully overgrown with hard and soft corals. This awesome dive site always offers super diving as there are enough pinnacles so that each buddy team can visit one at the same time.
The dive sites of Saint Johns all offer something special. An underwater mountain on Habili Jaffer, caverns, a plateau and lagoons on Paradise, drifting on Small Gota or looking for baby sharks on Big Gota, not to forget the pinnacle forrest of Umm Aruk.
Large underwater mountains, a forrest of pinnacles, a deep plateau with the biggest anemone city in the Red Sea, reefs that do not reach the surface, deep dropping walls, Saint Johns has it all! That means for you as a diver that to enjoy this area you need to be comfortable with wall diving, drifting, currents, caverns and bumbling in shallow waters with an occasional wreck dive on the way back.
The variety of types of diving is quite big in this itinerary, as you will meet deep dropping walls with potentially medium currents, next to doing shallow dives with swim throughs and an occasional night dive.
This trip offers up to 4 dives per day, including night diving. And some dives go to a maximum of 30 meters and we recommend that you are an Advanced diver or that you take this course on board.
