As far as you can get in Rocky & Zabargad

Rocky & zabargad (Deep South)

In the South-East of the Red Sea, the most far out sites are Rocky and Zabargad. These two Islands sit east of Saint Johns and can only be visited if the weather and sea conditions permit. Rocky is known for her dramatic walls, fully overgrown with soft corals, attracting all sorts of life, even sharks and mantas if you are lucky and in the right time of year. While Zabargad offers some cracks and caves on a plateau full of life. Note that Zabargad is also a nesting grounds for sea turtles.

Dive sites of Rocky & Zabargad

Zabargad is an old mountain in the sea that is slowly subsiding and has a fringed reef with a lagoon on the inside. The south beach is a nesting ground for sea turtles and closed during the month of August. However in the late summer you might be able to see baby turtles around the south plateau where we dive. Other than that the fringed reef offers loads of cracks and caverns and a home for many animals.

Sitting next to Zabargad, Rocky Island has deep dropping walls with a shoulder sticking out here and there at 30 meters. The currents usually surround her attrackting some beautiful life and offer some nice drif diving. The diving on both Islands is amazing but on the way back you will visit some dive sites in Saint Johns and then hop reef by reef up north through Sataya. If you are traveling back to Hurghada there is chance of doing some Safaga Dive sites like the Salem Express.

As these reefs are quite far to travel to, the wind and sea conditions need to be great for us to be anble to do this tour. But if you get to dive it you will be blue water diving, wall diving, visit some caverns, dive stunning reefs and hang in drifts and do an occasional night dive. There for it is advisable to be comfortable doing those.
