These offshore reefs come from great depth and hence have dramatic deep dropping walls, fully overgrown with hard and soft corals. As the currents touch each side of the reefs loads of nutrition is coming and that brings abundant marine life. The number of species as wel as how many there are is amazing.

Big brother Islands

Big Brother Island with het light house is known for her two wrecks Aida and Numibia in the north. Whereas on the south a plateau stretching out starting at 25 meter a cleaning station can be found where the thresher shark is often seen while a grey reef is swimming in the distance. The Small Brother Island is almost like a fat pillar and the currents can be raving, offering bait balls, a series of shark species and an abundantly overgrown dramatic wall with a giant fan coral garden in the east corner.

Daedalus reef

With her one kilometer long reef Daedalus is the largest reef and we often like to dive the north, searching for the schooling hammerheads. Or we wander in the North-East as we visit a large Anemone city. But even her south plateau with Napoleon wrasses, large schools of barracudas and a fair chance for turtles is an absolutely stunning dive.

Elphinstone

The third angle of the ‘GOLDEN TRIANGLE‘ its quite close to land and is the famous Elphinstone. Measuring only 300 meters long at the top of the reef she resembles a boat belly up and catches the current usually in the North. Both sides of the pole offer a plateau that extends out to more than 40 meters. This reef always delivers and surely can bring anything that swims in the Red Sea, from the tiniest nudibranch to any divers big dream. Enjoy!

Deep walls and currents are abundant on this tour, making it important that you as a diver are certified and comfortable to go 40 meters as well as going on a drift. Depending on the time of year you might encounter quite a bit of sharks and we will brief you how to handle a dive with these beauties in a safe manner. Most diving is done from the zodiak although all reefs also offer diving from the stern of the boat.

Because of the potential sharks it is important that you can keep a good buoyancy and can handle medium strong currents, making this a tour for the experienced diver. Advanced Open Water, Deep and Drift specialties are advised with a minimum of 30 dives.

What to see in simply the best

Diving ‘the golden triangle’ is amazing. Not only a fair chance of some shark action depending on the time of year, but even when you do not encounter a shark the reefs are absolutely stunning.

As currents pick up and you are in the right time of year, the chances of sharks grow, possible species are thresher shark, hammerhead shark, silky shark, longimanus, grey reef and white tip reef shark. Of course there are more species like the tiger shark and the silver tip, but chances of meeting them are not as big.

Other life that you can expect on this tour is: Napoleon wrasse, scorpion fish, lion fish, hawksbill turtles, trevalli, tuna, nudi branches, fuseliers, trompet fish and much more…
